Shepherds Pie (With White Sweet Potatoes)

Was trying out new way of making shepherds pie adding some different ingredients to it. Turn out pretty amazing!  I would totally add bacon but I didn’t had any last night 🙂



  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil or ghee
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cups diced carrots
  • 2 cups diced celery
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 pound organic grass fed ground beef
  • 1/2 pound organic ground turkey
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 4 large white sweet potatoes, chopped, cooked and mashed with 2 tablespoons of ghee or other fat.


  1. Heat coconut oil in a very large frying pan
  2. Sauté onion for 15 minutes until soft
  3. Add carrots, garlic, bell peppers and celery to pan and sauté in bacon fat for 10 minutes until soft
  4. Add ground beef and turkey to pan and sauté until brown, just a few minutes
  5. Season with salt, pepper and smoked paprika
  6. Add chicken broth and tomato paste and cook down broth until 60% evaporated.
  7. Pour ground beef and turkey mixture into a baking sheet
  8. Pour mashed cauliflower over beef mixture
  9. Bake at 360° for 30 minutes
  10. Serve
